My master's thesis focused on Japanese latin fonts, from their origin to their use today within the Japanese writing system. I examine whether the specific typographic characteristics of the Japanese and Latin writing systems constitute an obstacle or a constructive constraint to designing a shared space. After providing an overview of the history of Japanese scripts systems and the arrival of latin in Japan through Jesuit missions, I explored the singularities and interplay of both Latin and Japanese scripts.
