Fan ho was a self-taught photographer, born in Shanghai, who is known to have documented Hong Kong urban life during the early 50’s, as it transitioned from a trading port to a major metropolitan centre. Here is a poster design for the fictional exhibition A blossoming Hong Kong. His often strong geometrical compositions and sharp contrasts are characteristics of his work and helped me lean towards the Galliard by Matthew Carter. I played with reading directions composition in order to hierarchize and give a nod to the world region in question. Circling the reading helps to keep the attention on the photographs.
