[work in progress] Lapis is part of a traditional type design exercise run by Franck Jalleau during the first year of the Type Design MA at École Estienne. Lapis is a sans-serif typeface that respects Roman type tradition and its specific shapes, construction, proportions. Adding ligatures was both a way to assume plainly the Roman lapidary engraving heritage and offer wider composition possibilities. The glyphset currently includes uppercase letters, numerals, basic punctuation and French diacritics.
